Susan has always been one of my favorite characters in the series. I have always pictured her as the foundation of the group. Even though her head is often in a book, she's the one that grounds everyone else and keeps them together.
I was honestly waiting on a book where she and Nick realize that their feelings go beyond friendship, so I was pleasantly surprised with this story. I loved getting to know her on a deeper level. Her interactions with her family are raw and realistic. I felt her frustration with her family drama and her sadness as things escalated.
There was a sense of loneliness in her that Katmore managed to bring out so well I wanted to reach through the pages and offer her comfort. Ethan and Chris are great additions to the group. While identical twins in appearance, they couldn't be more different in personality. Ethan's relationship with Susan is fun and flirty. They have great chemistry and always have a good time together. Chris is more mysterious and has just the right amount of that "bad boy" vibe.
When he and Susan are together the sparks just ignite the page and I kept waiting for the explosion. Katmore did an amazing job of taking two people who have the same physical characteristics and making them stand on their own as two very individual people. I love their personalities and I can't wait to see more of them in subsequent books. Katmore is one of my favorite authors. I've written before about how she has a knack with imagery the world Neverland and Pan's Revenge are beautifully written and she has translated that to this series.
I felt like I was in each scene. In fact, I wanted to visit!!! My favorite characters were all back and it was fun to take a peek into their lives and see what they've been up to since the last book.
The only downside is now I have to wait again to catch another glimpse at their world. Until then I'll have to settle for stalking them on Facebook where many of the Grover Beach kids hang out and anxiously await the next book. This one is a definite recommend and if you are new to Anna Katmore make sure you scoop up her other books as well Shannon, Up To Shenanigans www. Jan 20, J. I can't decide if I like this book more or less than the others.
It was really entertaining, and I appreciated that it was longer than the other books, and therefore gave a bit more breathing room for character development. It's cool that Susan didn't immediately melt into Chris's arms, kind of; but at the same time, the obstacles, by the end, were getting tiring, because they were so contrived.
Was the I can't decide if I like this book more or less than the others. Was the pacing perfect? No, not even close; I predicted most of the twists and turns way before they actually happened. But was it compulsively readable?
Unfortunately, I really can't seem to get past some of the awkward word usage and phrasing especially, in this book, "sweetness", sure and surely, heck.
I was also thinking that I really hope Katmore won't get into a habit of writing two books per character in this series, because it just feels like a bit too much. Also, each successful couple is showing up in the later books, which is kind of cool, except that there are just a lot of cameos of kissing couples. I don't know if there's anything more to be gleaned out of the series, to be honest.
I like Nick and would possibly welcome a story about him, but in some ways, I'm hoping Katmore will branch out and write something different. Apparently the next book is going to be this one in Chris's perspective.
But overall, this book was an enjoyable and quick read. Aug 15, Saori rated it really liked it. Good but not great I absolutely loved Ryan and Lisa's story which is why I was excited to read this book. It's true that Chris is no Ryan Hunter but that's okay because he's still charming and lovable in a different way.
I also liked Susan as a character because even though she's supposed to fit into the nerd trope, she's strong, level-headed, and not the squeaky shy girl that you commonly see in romance novels. She was also smart and I loved the fact that she figures out most of the plot twists Good but not great I absolutely loved Ryan and Lisa's story which is why I was excited to read this book.
She was also smart and I loved the fact that she figures out most of the plot twists quickly because I find it annoying when books have characters that remain oblivious until the end to something the reader figures out twenty minutes into the book. The banter between Susan and Chris is enjoyable and the book is well-written.
I would give it 5 stars if not for the epilogue. For me, it sort of ruined the story and was totally unnecessary. I don't understand why the author felt the need to include it but I wasn't happy with it. I think there's a charm in not setting the character's future in stone and say exactly what happened to them and what will happen after the story. I don't want to give details in order to not spoil the story but I REALLY disliked the epilogue as I felt it gave me a bitter aftertaste that makes me look at the story in a less positive way.
I would recommend this book but suggest you skip the epilogue if you want a truly enjoyable experience. Jun 28, Jules. Bookverse rated it it was amazing Shelves: reviewonlinegerman-books. Plus, it is sooo lovely to follow all your beloved characters from before and also look into their future along with the story. I love the Grover Beach Team characters and although Liza and Ryan from the first two books of the series are my favorites the couple in this book and the 6th book is my second favorite!
Suzanne is just the adorable but feisty bookworm who makes her book become true! I'm also living my life through books and love epic romance stories that is why I could identify myself so good with her character. A super funny twist in their story makes it way cuter.
I believe it can be really confusing telling apart identical twins, especially if they are such adorable and handsome as Chris and Ethan! I can recommend reading the whole series as beloved characters always reappear and it's amazing to follow their story from another perspective.
Oct 01, Crissy rated it it was amazing. Aug 14, Jassa rated it liked it Shelves: kindleyoung-adultchick-lit. I always wanted to know what sort of guy Sue would end up with and now I know. I won't say Chris is perfect because that title belongs to Ryan. The thing is, Chris is his own guy and he works for Sue. Did they have an easy road? Not at all.
A great many things could have been avoided if they had opened their mouths and spoke to each other. That is really what the main problem was and when it really was time to talk, Sue was not having. In this case, didn't blame her, but Chris makes up for it. Now of Ethan.

It took Sue WAY too long to figure out what was going on there. I wouldn't say there were signs exactly, but there is shy and there is not having the right moment and then there is being not interested.
If none of these things are coming into play, its time to look into the matter. That is one of those things a girl checks out so she won't end up unknowingly friend-zoned. Oct 14, Rukhshar Baig rated it it was amazing. There are some books when you start reading the smile starts to form and when you complete reading the book that smile is still there on your face. You go, Susan! Jan 12, C. Dating Trouble can be read as a standalone. I would still recommend reading the other books in the Grover Beach series because Susan is in those books. I have adored their friendship throughout the series. I find it sweet and funny.
I think it is cute that he gave her the nickname Book Lover. The Twilight references were funny. The opening scene was made of win. I have always really liked Susan.
Dating trouble by anna katmore
I was happy Dating Trouble can be read as a standalone. I was happy when I heard that she would be getting a book. She has a good sense of humor and is a great friend. Most importantly, she has a good head on her shoulders. Also, Susan was rooting for Ryan to win Liza over in Play with me so that made like her all the more. One of the things I really like about this series is that the female leads stand up for themselves.
They are not pushovers. Susan definitely has a backbone. Another reason I like Susan is that she is a book warm. I like that Susan is not a completely stereotypical version of a book warm.
Susan is very innocent. She has never had a boyfriend or been kissed.
Get A Copy
However, she is not shy or antisocial. She is quite the opposite. Susan is outspoken, maybe a little too outspoken at times but that is alright.
I like that Susan points out that just because a person wears glasses that does not mean they are a nerd. Recently, Susan sustained a leg injury during a soccer match. As a result, she is unable to play soccer for several weeks. Ryan Hunter the captain of the soccer team finds a temporary replacement for Susan but he forgets to tell her. Needless to say, Susan is not very happy about the situation.
On the plus side, the replacement happens to be a really good looking guy named Ethan Dononvan aka Charlie Brown. Susan worries that he will try to make his temporary spot on the team permanent.
He reassures her that as soon as her leg gets better she can have back her spot. I really enjoyed when Susan and Ethan first met. I thought their interactions in those first few scenes were cute and fun. I too was swooning over Ethan a little bit. I thought it was priceless that Susan actually had her name written on that bench. Ethan and Susan end up spending hours talking after soccer practice. They really seemed to hit it off.
It turns out that they have a lot of common interests. He is her first real crush. The next day in school Susan sees Ethan flirting with another girl. She goes to talk to him.
He completely blows her off and acts like he never met her before. I thought she handled that situation well. She wants nothing to do with him after that.
Eventually, Susan finds out that Ethan has an identical twin brother named Chris. Needless to say, Chris does not really make a good first impression, second, or third for that matter. Chris has the reputation of being a player. Susan finds him insufferable. I did not like Chris at first because he was so rude and arrogant. Anyway, Susan ends up giving Chris her number in an interesting way to give to Ethan. Only, Chris starts calling Susan and leaving her sweet goodnight texts!
I know some people might be hesitant to read the book because of a love triangle. There is a little bit of triangle in the beginning.
There is just a bit of a triangle. Not everything is as it seems. Ethan has his secrets.
It would not have been fair to Susan if Ethan robbed her of her first kiss when he was not really interested. I was wondering if Ethan was gay when Chris made some cryptic remarks to Susan. Chris did not know for sure but suspected that Ethan was gay. And the butterflies were back. All ten thousand and then some. They never become girlfriend and boyfriend. Ethan seems more content just playing Mario Kart with Susan. I really think that Susan had the best of both worlds with Ethan and Chris.
They both cook for her. I just want to point out that Chris would never have pursued Susan if he truly thought his brother had a romantic interest in her. Chris kind of seems like a crummy brother at first but he is really a good brother.
I too was a little surprised by it. They just needed a little time apart to realize what they were missing. He never really puts moves on Susan. He does not try to kiss her.
Ethan seems more like the boy next door. Whenever Susan was hanging out with Ethan her mind would drift to thoughts of Chris. But, to my dismay, it was not included. I was kind of disappointed about that.
If you wrote it in book 5, Own up to it. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Anna Katmore is hands down a great author and I look forward to reading more of her books. Oh my god I loved this book!!! I just loved seeing his side of everything, I mean I fell in love with him during Sue's POV but seeing his was even better! Also the full epilogue was amazing having Will Davis come back also, I had a feeling it was him in Sue's book but getting the last name in this book was even better and then Lisa and Hunter also being at the end!!
Just loved it! Really excited to read Chloe's book and to see how she grew up being I know it's not set in high school we Oh my god I loved this book!!! Its another goal scored for fans of the Grover Beach series or a great place to jump in and make some new friends if youre new in town! I cant speak highly enough of Anna Katmore. In a literary world overrun with books all clamoring for attention she is a shining beacon of light in the chaos. If youve read my reviews of her previous works you know Im a huge fan and each book just solidifies why I adore her.
She is a wiz at imagery, bringing you straight into the Grover Beach world and making you feel like you are truly a part of story. I love the way she is able to write from male or female perspective with ease, ensuring that you are riveted to every word on each page.
Out of all the male characters in the series, I find Chris the most appealing. I could read as many books about Chris as Katmore chooses to write and be a ridiculously happy girl! Susan, as seen through the eyes of Chris, is a treat.
I loved the previous book that focused on her, but here we get an even better perspective on what she is really like. I always saw her as witty but her interactions here turn that into something feisty with a side of spice. I felt like I was reading an entirely new story as I saw scenes I was already familiar with unfold in a whole new light. Her style is fluid and the voices she gives her characters is realistic and exciting.

She does romance exceptionally well and stands out among her peers as a true wordsmith. Shannon, Up To Shenanigans I'm going to be honest with you. I read this Dating Trouble book when I was in a phase. And also I read any trash available. But reading this I was like, "What the freaking hell did I see I'm going to be honest with you. But reading this I was like, "What the freaking hell did I see in this book? And their love story did chafe me a bit. There's a limit to things.
But that did not mean it was not addictive. I mean I would read it if I had nada to do on my list, but not a treat to read. I do like the exciting tingle. I just dont want the heartache that comes with it. I just want to say to the author that this is getting old. I didn't want to read this one, but I had, cause I am like that, I have to finish the series, no matter how awful it is, if I have started it.
Luckily this is not an awful series, but this 2 book each story book is annoying, since both books are old from 2 POVs, if it was 1POV per book, I would understand but this? Not really!
It rally drops the actual value, meaning of the story, so I hope after will respect her work enough to stop this nonsense. The couple was cute as I said in the previous review, but since I already knew story it was not interesting, and I found many things to do just to not read this book. In this book Sue is annoying and lacks a whole lot of personality, she seems ridiculous and unreasonable, and she doesn't have any depth at all.
That's probably because she spends most of her time ignoring Chris and talking to Ethan about everything and that worked for her book, but it didn't work here. I had quite a few of those "Why the hell does he even like this chick she's so damn vanilla" moments that I hate when reading about a supposed I think I prefer the book better from Sue's POV.
I had quite a few of those "Why the hell does he even like this chick she's so damn vanilla" moments that I hate when reading about a supposed amazing female lead. View 1 comment. Sorry Ryan and Liza. I also appreciated how Lauren didn't turn out to be the typical catty mean girl just because she was Chris's "go to girl" before he fell for Susan.
It was nice to read a story where a girl isn't villainized for promiscuity. And, that fruit cream cake sounded delicious. Actual Rating: 4. And this is also the first ever switched POV I found a little better than the original. Chris' thoughts felt genuine and never too much, too creepy or unrealistic.
Very well done! I enjoyed this book! Always read Anna Katmore's books with pleasure! They are full of humor, romantic and always warms you from inside. If you like Dating Trouble or you just belive in love, than you must read this one. Is nothing superfluous and at the same time, all you wanted to know!
Sue and Chris are my favorite characters. This incredible chemistry between them, it was like I was standing right next to them and seeing? Gonna reread it and wait for Chloe Summers story next. Read full review in the March issue of InD'tale Magazine. It was a great book! Super quick to read, the story line was cute and could be totally retable to high school students.
I loved how the twins were so different and how Chris totally fell for "snappy Kitten" Sue. I really enjoyed this book and would recomend it. Chris Donovan is love.
This book has everything- sweet gestures, flirting, oh sooo much flirting, friendship. I love every single thing about it. And this might be one of those books which will be read again and again. Wow just wow I straight felt bad for Chris when I read Susan's point of view I thought he kind of sounded like a jerk but actually reading his point of view I feel bad for him he went through a lot to try to get her attention I'm so glad they got together and all worked out.
Susan, as seen through the eyes dating Chris, is a treat.
